Video Award

How it works

The BWPA Video Award is designed to celebrate cinematography. We want you to showcase your skills behind the camera.

The award will be judged with a focus primarily on shot choice, sequencing, and a strong cinematic skillset. It does not matter what species or landscape you are filming, but how you film it.

This is your chance to shine as a videographer, and show us what you can do.

Music

We have a number of options for your entry with regards to music. This music is royalty-free, and licensed to BWPA. You may only use this music in connection with your entry to the competition, and it cannot be used outside of BWPA.

With understanding of the above terms, please download the music options at this link.

You are permitted to use other music, as long as it is royalty-free and appropriately licensed. We will check all licenses and disqualify any entries using unlicensed music.

Conditions of entry

There are some rules to adhere to when submitting your entry to the competition:

  • Submissions should be no longer than 3 minutes in length;

  • You may only use appropriately licensed, royalty-free music, or the music supplied above by BWPA;

  • All footage used in your video must be your own, and you must own the copyright to the footage. If your submission contains footage that is owned by a third-party, your entry will be disqualified.

And finally, these guidelines should be adhered to where possible:

  • Submissions should be recorded in at least 1080p resolution;

  • Please record videos with a base rate of 23.98, 25, or 29.98 fps.

  • Focus on cinematography and video skills (having a story is a bonus, and should be in addition to good camera skills). Featuring as an on-screen presenter is acceptable, but the focus should be on video skills.
